Last year I was looking for a new tree skirt.
Our tree is huge and the store bought skirts were too small and super expensive.
So, I made my own, from a 70" table cloth in a pattern I liked.
I purchased a 70" round table cloth For my project. There were lots of colors and patterns to choose from. I was going to get material but this is already round and hemmed! Another plus was having it big enough to cover my artificial tree legs. It goes out completely under the tree to the edge of our branches. Skirts often get lost so the pretty and expensive item gets lost.
Not shown here but I folded the table cloth in half, then I cut it half way through. This way it can go around the tree base. This makes such a nice and full tree skirt that can be washed in regular loads.
After the cut I folded it back into a 1/2 circle then again to look like a wedge or piece of pie.
I cut the tip off to make the circle to go around my artificial tree base. If you have a real tree you cut a larger hole.
Tip: cut smaller slices until
you get your desired size. You can always cut more but you can't put it back!
You can add embelishments if you like.
Personalize it the way you like.
It would make a great and economical gift.

I was going to add velcro to keep the skirt the skirt on but I just wrapped it and tucked the edges under. It stayed for the season.
If you have pets and they play under the tree use Velcro.

If you sew on or glue any objects make sure it can be washed. Place it in a garment bag to wash it so it doesn't tangle or rip.

Have fun!

I love it. I never did Velcro it. I just placedmit under the tree. The cat still lays on, it but I just straighten it out. It really finishes it nicely.
