Tabletop Starfish Christmas Tree
Do you love coastal decor for Christmas? This Tabletop Starfish Christmas Tree was easy to put together and it doesn't take long at all to make.
I bought a candy corn wood block set near Halloween, thinking it would be cute to make. It didn’t get made though. I also found a small basket filled with small starfish at Goodwill not too long ago. It seemed to me that these items were meant to go together for a Tabletop Starfish Christmas Tree.
Using the wood triangle blocks as a template I cut a sheet of laminated burlap to fit.
I selected appropriately sized starfish from the basket and placed them on the burlap until I was satisfied with the placement.
Once the placement was set, I added small dots of hot glue to the back of each starfish and secured it to the burlap.
The wood blocks are three separate pieces wrapped tightly in plastic. I could have painted the wood, but would have meant I would need to glue the three pieces together and wait for that to set and then wait for the paint to dry.
I decided to leave the blocks in the plastic. To cover the sides and back of the blocks, I used strips of white adhesive vinyl and snow flake ribbon. The ribbon is held in place with hot glue. I used spray adhesive to attach the burlap sheet to the blocks. Looking at it once it’s finished, you’d never know it still had the plastic underneath.
I used a wood block for the base of the tree. I did paint this using a light beige paint. I added more of the starfish ribbon to the base. I like that it gives the tree more height and dimension.
The tree is centered on the base and hot glued in place.
The finishing touch was to add a small shard of sea glass as a tree topper. It's hot glued in place.
This goes well with my other coastal Christmas decor and it was super easy to put together.
