Hi, it’s Brittany from Our Home Made Easy! I am passionate about sharing easy DIY projects around the house for other busy families.

Today I wanted to share this super quick wood tray that is perfect for holding holiday décor!

You will need one 1" x 8" board and one 1" x 3" board.

You can see the full post & pictures here
First, determine the length needed for your tray. For our dining room, we made a 36" long tray.

Then, cut down your 8″ board to the preferred length. For reference, to make my tray a total length of 36″, my board is 34.5″ in length.

Once you’ve cut your board to length, measure how long your sides need to be in length.  Your long sides will be the length of the board and the short sides will be the board width + 1.5 inches in length.
Using your Kreg Jig, attach your pieces with pocket hole screws. In the picture above, you can see where we placed the pocket holes.

Soften the edges with an orbital sander.

**Sorry, I didn't grab any 'before stain' photos. My husband was so quick putting it together that I didn't get a chance to snap a photo!**
Attach your board together using my [affiliate link]  FAVORITE tool ever.

Now, we can quickly build whatever we need around the house pretty quickly with the Kreg Jig. I'm a fan and recommend any weekend DIY-er picks up one, too!
Next, you will want to apply 1-2 coats of stain on the tray. I used leftover stain we had in the workshop. It's one coat of Early American & one coat of Kona.

Finish the tray with one coat of matte poly to seal it.
Thank you so much for checking out my dining room looking a little bit more jazzed up than usual!

I hope that you find that making a tray is easier and cheaper than picking up one at the store!
