DIY Vintage Decor
Vintage Frames are hard to find and when you do find them the price tags are absurd.
Made this gorgeous tray using just some gilding paint & acrylic paint. A very quick & simple DIY using basic painting techniques.
Picked up this very inexpensive tray for $2 from a thrift store. I loved the shape & the details on the edges.
Used Levis gilding paint. Recommend this type of paint it give a very rich finish & a little bit goes a long way. You can also use gold spray paint.
Painted all around the frame of the tray skipping the inner portion cause I was going to add a print in the center but if you want to use it as a tray you can go ahead and paint the whole thing.
Used black acrylic paint for dry brushing & giving that antique finish.
Finally glued a vintage printout to the middle of the tray.
And Voila! You have a unique piece of vintage decor you can add to your bookshelf, style on a console/coffee table or hang on a wall.

Hello. Just so you know, vintage frames are all but a "dime a dozen" in just about any Good Will, Thrifty Shopper, and most Salvation Army stores. I have what seems to be a thousand of them and use them - usually just well cleaned up but not painted, gilded, resined, or anything else, and make Memory Pictures from jewelry that belonged to the person I'm making one for -- or for their family if they die. I only ask - occasionally - that once they become unusable or no longer wanted, they be returned to me. I can always use some of the jewels on that picture for others if possible or appropriate

That is lovely. Did you think to have a mirror cut to fit or paste beautiful brocade fabric and then find an oval mirror or even a round one to attach to the fabric?? Thank you for sharing :)
