How to make your own paper leaf garland using scrapbook paper
This is one of those rainy day and/or "you feel like poo and want to just lay on the couch" kind of crafts. Despite the fact that I went through a box of tissues with this craft, I had fun making it all while laying on the couch watching Rachel Ray.
I had everything on hand already which makes me love this even more since it was technically free and I didn't have to leave the house. I had scrapbook paper left over from when I covered some books for my bookshelf and was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it.  I also recently faced my fears and made garland with faux magnolia. Why not put those two projects together, right?

When I began this little project, I really had no idea what I was trying to accomplish. And my brain was slower that day. I just started cutting leaves from the scrapbook paper. Some were too small, some were too big (now I know how Goldilocks felt) but I finally started cutting them just right. You'll need to channel your inner kindergartner and pretend your are cutting paper hearts. Obviously, cut them more of an oval shape as so
Once cut, I just started gluing them with my hot glue gun onto my piping. Again, I had no plan. I just made sure the leaves were all going in the same direction and that the pointy part of the leaf was facing down. I did this for about a foot of piping and then decided to tape it up on my mantel to get a better idea of what I wanted.
From there, I kept cutting and adding in leaves. I glued the leaves right on to the piping or another leaf. I just kept going until I ran out of paper and was mentally done with this project. You can make this as long and as full as you want.  I made more of a swag, I guess. We have a very long mantel and I had no desire to be cutting leaves all day. I also rolled some little flowers to put into my garland for a little fun
All and all this was an easy and fun project.  And it kept me busy when I was feeling on the blah side.
