This garland, made with romantic vintage inspired papers, is so easy to make. It looks beautiful on a fireplace mantel, or decorate a hutch, a window, or even a headboard with this lightweight garland.

Back when I became a mom in 1995, I was introduced to scrapbooking, and for the next 10-15 years, that was my main hobby. I collected enough papers and supplies to stock my own store!

Recently I went through my stack of papers, and pulled out several that are vintage inspired, covered in old world florals and patterns and letters and songs. Aren't these papers gorgeous? I almost hating cutting them up!

Supplies you'll need:

I love the mismatched look with all these soft patterns. It feels very shabby chic! You can use whatever papers you love. I used 7 different patterns to make my vintage inspired heart garland.

Create a template from cardboard. I cut a long, narrow heart shape. Trace the template onto each paper and cut out with scissors.

Cut a length of jute cord the size that you need. I measured my fireplace mantel. Make sure to leave at least 12" at each end for hanging. Lay out the hearts on a flat surface to plan the distance between each. Then hot glue the jute twine to the back of each heart.

Add a Command decorating clip to your mantel and tie the ends of the jute to the clip. I hid mine beneath this lambs ear garland.

You hardly even notice the twine, it looks as though the hearts are floating!

This garland could be left up right through spring because the colors are not Valentines-specific.

I hope you enjoyed this simple DIY and are inspired to make one!
