Hi my crafty friends. As you guys may know, I love beach and farmhouse decor. Therefore, I was very excited to make a beach farmhouse tray DIY. For this craft I was able to use a recycled picture frame to create the tray. I love to repurpose items, it makes for a budget friendly DIY. I also love my Magnolia Design stencils. I use them on a lot of my crafts. For todays DIY I incorporated the anchor stencil which I really love. It turned out beautifully on the farmhouse tray. As always, you can watch the video replay below, don’t forget to comment on the video so we know you saw it! Now lets get into the craft, all you need is what’s listed below..

FIRSTLY, LETS GET YOU A SUPPLY LIST:

  • Farmhouse Tray (Repurposed picture frame)
  • White Paint
  • Wood Stain
  • Sand Paper
  • Paint Brush
  • Jute String
  • Anchor Stencil (Magnolia Design Co)
  • All in 1 paint (white, yellow)
  • Paper Towels
  • Blow Dryer
  • Drill
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Corks
  • Chalk (Magnolia)

SECONDLY, LETS GET INTO MAKING THE CRAFT:

I started this DIY by taking my recycled wood picture frame and flipping it over. The back of the picture frame is shaped perfectly for a farmhouse tray. Previously in the day I drilled 2 small holes on both sides of the picture frame so I can add some nautical rope later on in the craft. Then, I stained the back of the frame. While the stain was drying, I painted the front of the frame white. I then flipped the frame back over and painted over the stain with white and yellow paint. These colors combined turned out beautifully on the stain. Finally, I began sanding the tray. This is when it started having that farmhouse look..

THIRDLY, LETS PUT THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON This Beach Farmhouse tray:

I then added jute string to both sides of the tray creating handles. After that, I glued 4 corks to the bottom of the tray for legs. Then I started the fun part of placing the stencil. I created a tie-dye look with my anchor by using navy and coral chalk. It turned out so beautifully!

FINALLY, YOU HAVE MADE a beach farmhouse tray:

I take one final look to make sure everything is to my liking. Now you have made a beautiful beach farmhouse tray. This tray is simple and budget friendly. I think this may be one of my favorite Magnolia stencils. I added some nautical decor to my farmhouse tray and I am so happy with how it turned out.
