How To Make A Riser Out Of A Mop

As I'm sure you all know by now, I hate to waste. So I made this riser after I made my mop pumpkins. Click here to see my video tutorial on how to make some cute mop pumpkins.

The black top of the mop was perfect for a stand so let me show you what I did to make it into a riser.

Materials:

Mop

A wooden circle - I bought one at Walmart for 98 cents

Paint

Stain

Hot glue

E6000

You first need to remove all the strings from the mop. You will then be left with something like this. I purchased my mop from the Dollar Tree.

Next, I just dry bushed on some white paint on my wooden circle. I used very little paint and lightly brushed the wood.

Next, I went outside to a well ventilated area to use my Minwax stain (Early American).

Using a rag I rubbed the stain over the wooden circle. This gives it a weathered look and the stain don’t really soak in where the paint was so it leaves a nice uneven look.

Next, I added the E600 and hot glue onto the mop top to stick it on to the center of my wood.

Center it and then let it dry for 24 hours.

My mop top riser is ready!

It’s perfect for my fall decor but could be used for anything. It is a really useful DIY to have!

Well I am sure you can use a whole lot of things as a riser. Guess you got yarn to use now though so that’s good.
