An Easy to Build Frame for a Mirror

This frame is a genuinely easy and inexpensive build. It is constructed using 1x6 lumber, and has curves at the corners. I stenciled the front using a Moroccan theme but it can be finished however desired! It is the perfect weekend project, and is also suitable for those new to building furniture and home decor items...

This frame is huge, and was created to fit an existing mirror. The plan can easily be scaled up or down just by changing the overall length of the pieces to fit a mirror of a different size. There are mitered corners secured with pocket hole screws and it is hung on the wall with a French cleat.

The pieces are cut to length first. The curves are cut by drilling a hole with a paddle or spade bit, then connecting them with a straight cut using a jigsaw.

Miters are cut in the ends, then the pocket holes are drilled. The frame is then thoroughly sanded then painted or stained and sealed.

The frame is constructed so that the mirror overlaps the center opening by 3/4". The mirror and the backing (a piece of corrugated board) are held in place using mirror clips.
