Before and After Oak Kitchen Mirror

by Cinzanno
I was given this Oak Kitchen mirror from someone on Freecycle.
It was loaded with so much varnish... Some may love it that way.. I am afraid I don't, I prefer the raw/rustic look.
So I felt I had to do something with it...
I was a bit wary as I had never done this before on something this old or expensive... I got some sand paper and started rubbing away at the corner... OMG was I doing the right thing??? had I messed up an expensive item??? OH WELL TOO LATE NOW so I rubbed and rubbed and rubbed.....
I LOVED THE OUTCOME... Totally rustic and raw, the way I feel Oak should be displayed.

I had some left over blackboard sticky backed vinyl, so I cut them out and placed them in the 2 side bits and wrote in white chalk on them
The whole project took me about 3 hours in total and cost me nothing but sandpaper I already had and blackboard sticky backed vinyl I already had
I love walking into my kitchen/Diner now

Sorry about the poor quality pictures, it really does look nice... :)
