Convert an Old Broken Clock Into a BOHO Wall Decor
Boho Boho Boho everywhere. I too love the 2 different BOHO styles, the colorful style and the neutral style. I have always been a fan of decorating big accent walls with painted/decoupage plates. And my home sported these plates for quite long. Recently I stared slowly changing my décor to neutral boho theme. So I put up baskets, cane plates, planters etc on my accent wall.
The other day our kids room clock fell off and broke. Knowing me, (who would never throw anything out unless I cant think of anything to do with it) my husband put it away to trash it. The moment my eyes fell on it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Take a look at what I made out of the old broken clock.
Beautiful recycled BOHO Mirror.
Let me show you how I made this.
This was my old broken clock.
Step 1: I stuck few bottle caps in the middle space so as to raise the base and work over it.
Step 2: I then placed the acrylic mirror on top of the lids. There was some gap on the sides.
Step 3: To fill the gap. I glued some jute rope around and another layer of white cotton rope.
Step 4: I stuck the mirror on top. You can see that there's no gap now and the rope gives it a finished look.
Step 5: I now stuck 5 inch dowels in this pattern.
I added more dowels to fill the space.
Step 6: I attached a jute rope under one dowel, and started weaving, going over one dowel and under the next. I glued the rope as I was weaving along.
Step 7: After few rounds, I started weaving the same pattern in an anti clockwise direction. This time I took the rope over the dowel (which in earlier step had the rope under it).
This is how the weave looks.
Step 8: Went few rounds with this too.
Step 9: At the end, I removed the protective sheet from the mirror.
Step 10: I also added wooden beads along the mirror to accentuate it.
Isn't this accent wall looking gorgeous!! I loved it
Can you believe this was made from a broken clock?
I will later show how I made the basket macrame planter and the basket mirror too. Hope you all enjoyed this project.
