DIY Anthopologie Cecilia Mirror

I like to browse Anthropologie when looking for style inspiration. I’d seen the Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose Mirror dupes floating around but I wasn’t feeling it. But then: it happened. I fell in love with a mirror. It’s true. The Cecilia Mirror.

But then I saw the price and I promptly took off my rose colored glasses and hopped on the DIY train.

Gorgeous piece. Ugly price.

I already had this round mirror above my mantel. I bought it a couple of years ago at Hobby Lobby on a week that they were 50% off (bless your sale weeks, HL) for $60.

It’s huge too. 32”.

I ordered some wooden appliqués from Amazon and grabbed a couple packs of sticky gems from the Dollar Tree.

My shoppable photo on my Amazon Storefront is linked here.

I had a can of gold spray paint in my garage that I knew would be perfect.

I started by trying a couple of different layouts with the appliqués until I found one that I liked.

Once I was settled on that- I grabbed my glue gun and some Gorilla Glue sticks and got to work.

It was so easy that I was kicking myself for not doing it sooner

Once all of my appliqués were in place, I went around the frame and placed the sticky gems.

I then covered the mirror portion in plastic grocery bags and painters tape and gave it an even coat of metallic gold spray paint.

Once it was dry- I just peeled off the tape and hung her back in her rightful place.

In hindsight, I would have painted the appliqués first because I wasn’t able to paint the underneath once they were glued on. But you can’t really tell unless you’re looking for it in the reflection.

Quick. Easy. And cheap, since I already had a mirror and spray paint on hand.

But even if you’re starting from scratch- it’s waaaayyy cheaper than $400.
