This wood spool was left outside in the harsh Florida elements far to long, but I was able to save it! Lets take a minute to reflect! :)
This top was all that was left from a large wood spool. It was wet and starting to rot. I let it dry out in the sun for a couple days, put in a few screws where it was coming apart, then gave it a good sanding.
After sanding, I gave it a coat of paint. I dipped my brush and dragged it with medium pressure to give it this look, letting the natural wood show through. I used Fusion "Azure" by Penny&Company collection. It's a very bold but happy color!
I used a 12" round mirror and attached it with a hot glue gun using Gorilla glue sticks.
Finally, I trimmed it out with 1/2" natural sisal rope. This measures 36" round and is quite heavy, but should last for years!
This project should only take a few hours if you have a nice dry spool. Thanks for lookin'
