I adore the look of anything braided. It's also such a fun and simple way to create boho decors. I created a braided rope cushion, any boho lover would easily make.

The best part, it can be made in 30 minutes.

Step 1 braiding

Use macrame cord 5mm or a similar dense cord for this project.

Start by grouping the rope into three sections of two rope strands. Tape the ends with clear tape.

To begin braiding, take the left rope section over the middle rope section and then take the right section over the middle section. Same as braiding hair. In the end you will have a thick braid.

Step 2 creating a thinner braid

Group the rope again into three sections, but this time with one rope strand at each section.

Continue the same steps, crossing the left section over the middle section and crossing the right section over the middle section creating the braid.

Repeat this braiding process to have 2 thin braids.

Step 3 Decorating an old pillow

I had this old cotton velvet plain pillowcase. At one side of the my square pillow case, I gave the thick braid a random shape similar to the letter ‘m’. I attached the braid to the pillow with fabric adhesive, you may also sew it on the fabric.

Step 4 Decorating the pillow -continued

At the opposite side of the pillow, I shaped the thin braid to be another ‘m’

Step 5 Decorating the pillow -continued

I then gave the last piece of thin braid a meniscate shape. I then glued them onto the pillow.

Step 6 The Tassels

Having attached the braids as shown in the photos, you will have 4 tassels at the corners. I combed the macrame string and cut the tassels to be even.

Your easy diy pillow is ready to give your living room a boho look and impress anyone who sees it, too!
