Pottery Barn Inspired Me to Make My Own Flag Design PIllow

I love Pottery Barn. I especially love their pillows. I have a few of their pillow covers throughout my home. But, when I saw their flag pillow, I knew I could make one easy and for a fraction of the cost.
This is my inspiration...the Sweatshirt Flag Lumbar Pillow. I don't know about you, but I don't keep extra sweatshirt fabric lying around. :) So, I went digging thru my "bin 'o fabric bits" and found something just as good.
Linen! I grabbed some craft paint and some painters tape, and went to work.
First I taped out the outer edge of the pillow. Then, I filled in the "Stars" area with tape.
Using more tape, I created lines by using a stencil brush and red craft paint.
Finally, I cut out painters tape stars and added the blue. Then, it was time to sew the pillow together.
The easiest of all pillows to make in an "envelope" pillow. It involves the front panel, and two smaller back panels. (Visit my blog, The Everyday Home, for a more in-depth tutorial on how to make an envelope pillow.) Once it was sewn together, I inserted the pillow form and this is the result...
The perfect little lumbar-size Stenciled Flag Pillow for my front porch.
It was so incredibly easy to make, and I gotta say - it was right in my "price range."
