Simple Patriotic Drop Cloth Pillow

60 Minutes
Easy
When one of my blogging friends wanted to do a patriotic project tour, I was excited to create something to share. However, because I am in the process of finishing up my kitchen redo, I didn't want to spend a lot of time or money. Then I remembered a stash of drop cloth I had left over from a slip cover project. The only thing I had to purchase was a flag for $1.99 at Michaels! Check out my simple patriotic drop cloth pillow...
Cute, right? The price was definitely right!
This is what I needed to get started. Your measurements may vary depending on the size of your pillow form. (I made mine...you can click the link at the bottom to see how.)
I tea-dyed my flag to age it a bit.
Then I pinned it face-down to the pillow front...
...and sewed it in place.
I cut a "window" about a quarter of an inch all the way around the seam.
For the back. I sewed a nice finished edge on one side of each back piece...
...and pinned it together as shown.
Then I frayed the edges of inside the "window" by pulling the fibers.
The last step was to add a pillow form, and that was it!
I love the simplicity of it.
It's perfect for the upcoming holiday, but could easily stay out all summer!
