Dollar Store Fall Pumpkin and Gourd

4 Materials
Dollar stores are great places to purchase items when you want to experiment and try new ideas and products. They are great for the holidays and of course perfect for someone on a budget.
Here is how the pumpkin and gourd started out.
I wanted to create a fun new look using just what I had on hand. I used some different items to help create a unique look.

I started out by spray painting the pumpkin gold.
I wrapped the gold pumpkin with yarn, in no particular pattern and secured it to the bottom with tape.
Then I spray painted it with black chalkboard spray paint. Once that was dry I removed the yarn and "seasoned" the chalkboard paint with chalk and then wiped the chalk off.
For the gourd I spray painted it white.
Then I bunched up a plastic grocery bag, dipped it in gold paint and then blotted the paint on the gourd , creating a speckled pattern. I repeated this step until I achieved a desired look.
Here is the finished project!
Here are a couple other fall and thanksgiving decor projects that also work well for a budget.

I love how they turned out and it was fun to try to be creative with little risk of money invested.

What items, products or techniques have you dared to try and loved the result?
