Dollar Tree Round Craft Box Pumpkins

I found a cute fall crafting idea for those round paper mache boxes from Dollar Tree, and it's a very easy project!.

I purchased two of these round paper mache boxes with lids at Dollar Tree.

First, I painted the boxes with a couple of coats of Decoart Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Heritage but any orange chalky or chalk paint will work.

Next, I distressed the boxes with 220 grit sandpaper with an all over sanding.

At my request, my husband brought home some sticks with bark in 3/4" and 2" widths from our cabin. The sticks were cut on a diagonal on the chop saw. The sticks were cut into 1 3/4" lengths, and glued to the center of the box lids with E6000 Craft Adhesive. I let the glue dry overnight.

This sheet of rub on transfers is also from Dollar Tree.

I cut out the words "gather" and "thankful".

I used a flat stick to rub on the transfers. More info on rub on transfer application can be found  HERE. More of my project ideas with Dollar Tree boxes and rub on transfers are HERE.

I waxed the boxes with  Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear and a fiber rag.

The last step was to tie some raffia onto my pumpkin stem, and my pumpkins were finished!
