Dollar Tree has some super cute wood items out right now. Add a little paint, some felt, and you can turn a simple wood shape into something amazing! Here I take a wood pumpkin and make it a little extra glam.
Dollar Tree Wooden Pumpkin Decor
I started with the wooden pumpkin from Dollar Tree, some felt, rafia (it acutally came from the pumpkin and I pulled it off), paint, paint brush, and glue. That is it! Something about wood, felt, adn gold paint just screams fall to me!
I pulled off the rafia that came on the pumpkin and untied the string at the top and set them adise for later. I then painted the inserts of the pumkin first with Plaid Folkart paint in parchment and then let it dry. I choose to make the background color light, but you could do much lighter if you wanted to!
After the first color of paint dried I added the Plaid Folkart Treasure Gold paint in Mayan Gold to the raises 3 sections of the pumpkin and let it dry.
Time to make some felt leaves and rolled flowers. These are so easy, check out the video to see how fun and easy they are. For such a simple twist they really have a big wow effect!
Check out the video to see how easy this is to make, plus some extra tips now to to put it all together!
Last step is to put everything together. Glue the rafia down first, then the rolled felt flowers, and last the felt leaves. Add a little hanging string in a natural rope and it is done!
I just love the look of the pumpkin now that it is all put together. I can hang it on my front door in a wreath, rest it on my mantle, or place it on a wall in house for a little extra fall fun.
