I enjoy taking fake pumpkins and decorating them for fall! Because I love modpodge so much I especially love to modpodge decorative napkins to them and adding items to glam them up!
First start with a white pumpkin or paint your pumpkin white. It's important if you want the full color of your napkins to show.
Assemble your materials
HINT: Set your pumpkin in a bowl or dish with a little depth. That way once you've painted the top and it has dried you can flip it over and the stem fits in the bowl letting it sit level so you can now paint the bottom. My pumpkin looks white but it was used before in a craft project and had many spots that needed to be covered. I always start with a bright white pumpkin to be sure the napkins full color will show.
Paint your pumpkin using the above Hint.
Begin to paint
Once dried use your Exacto knife to cut off the stem.
Cut off stem
After cutting off stem and leveling the area take the knife tip and make a small hole. This is where your knob will go.
Now it's ready to decoupage. Using your modpodge and brush paint a section on your pumpkin. I am using McKenzie-Child's napkins. It's one of my favorite patterns. Tear them into pieces. No straight lines. Separate the ply using only the one that's printed on. Take that piece and lay it face up on the pumpkin applying more modpodge to adhere it to the pumpkin
Start to decoupage
Continue until you have completely covered the pumpkin. Then let dry overnight.
Completed decoupage

Now in a small dish pour in some gold paint then add in a little water to thin it out. Stir well.

Thin paint
Now pour this over the top of the pumpkin a small section at a time, tilting the pumpkin downward so the paint runs down. You can help it along with your paint brush too. If you don't like this method you can just paint lines down the pumpkin. Continue all around the top letting it run down until finished. Paint the stem area too.
HINT: I chose gold paint because my knob had gold in it and so does the napkin. If your napkin has lets say aqua, use aqua paint and an aqua knob or you can paint a wooden one also. Jazz it up according to your color preference.
Now while wet, sprinkle gold glitter all along the paint. I use a tea strainer, now a glitter strainer to do this. Works great!
Glitter
After paint/glitter dries turn upside down and shake off excess glitter.
Take the knob and apply E-6000 to the screw and underside the knob. Insert into hole.
All glammed up!
This would look great sitting on a gold candleholder that I don't have!
Enjoy!!
