Leather and Wood Pumpkin DIY for Fall

Did you know I go live every week on my Facebook page to do a fun home decor DIY? I do.

I was making these leather and wood pumpkins Live and they turned out sooooooo adorable I had to share how easy they were and had a huge impact on my fall decor display!

I got some of my supplies at the Pier One store closing but you can find leather in so many unconventional ways for your crafts and DIYs. I was explaining that I always look for leather jackets at thrift stores and cheap leather purses. I repurpose them into decor DIYs like this one and so many other fun ideas! I have made leather sunflowers out of a yellow leather jacket and earrings out of purse leather. Endless possibilities!

This DIY is so simple and would make a cute gift too!

Speaking of gifts, I am all about handmade gifts this Christmas and I am gathering some friends to make some fun handmade gifts and putting them together in one place! I can’t wait to share the details with you soon!

supplies
  • Leather or Pleather fabric
  • Wooden chunky pumpkins
  • ModPodge
  • Sponge brush
  • Sharpie pen
  • Embellishments

steps
  • Lay your fabric right side down and trace your chunky wooden pumpkin with the sharpie pen
Trace closely but don’t get sharpie on your wood pumpkin
  • Flip the pumpkin and trace again (you can do each side the same or with different fabric)
  • Cut along your trace lines with sharp scissors
  • Spread ModPodge on the pumpkin liberally but not running over the edge.
Brush from the inside out so you don’t have drips
  • Lay your cut out fabric over the correct side of the pumpkin lining it up with the edges and press it out from the inside out to adhere the modpodge to the leather
Make sure your hands are clean from the mod podge
  • Flip it and repeat steps 4 and 5
  • Trim any excess leather
  • Add any embellishments
I hung these leather leaves from a string over the stem

How cute are these simple little pumpkins?!?!?

I did each side in a different color on each side

Here are the other pumpkin DIYs I think you’ll like if you like these!
