I need a SPECIFIC size of wood molding. 2 3/4 inches in width. Went to LOWES and ONLY molding I can find that is 2 3/4" width is STAINED. ALL others are 2 1/2", 3 1/4", etc. (I need 34.5" length, so cutting down a 3" molding to 2 3/4" for 34.5 inches has to be exact and not easy.

  • Either choose two narrower molding designs to make them equal the 2 3/4 inch width, or find a proper lumber yard where you will have more options available to you.

A lot of wide molding is expensive. Sometimes triple the price of narrow moldings. What I have done to save money through the years is take various smaller moldings and stack/layer them on top of each other. Sometimes it takes two or three moldings to get the look and size I was looking for. If using them for other than a wall, I would glue them to a thin backer board or stiff cardboard.

Have you looked on line. Home builder places and cabinet shops might be helpful
