Question about Framing wall studs

I'm framing an addition with standard 8' high ceilings. When installing 8' 2x4 wall studs, do I use the full 8' 2x4 or cut each 2x4 to take into account the sole and top plate thicknesses so as to result in an 8' interior height?

you buy the studs at Home Depot or wherever at 92 1/2 and they are precut and sold that way. 1.5 for the base plate, and two layers for the top plate gets you 96 .5 (less the drywall) yields 8'-0
Naomie has got it. You can buy the pre cut studs or cut your own. 92 5/8 " for 8' ceilings.

Measuring tapes have a little black diamond shape on them that tells you where to mark studs.
