How can I make an undershelf basket?

I have seen these shelves from $6.99 each and up. I want one for ziplock bags, foil, waxpaper, etc. There was a post using cooling racks and bending them to use on a door for spices. Thought maybe using cooling racks somehow bent and/or attach two together to be wider and attaching to bottom of a shelf would work. Any suggestions?

Hi Marsha. I'm Cindy. You can make a basket to fit almost anywhere. Use any kind of cardboard that you have on hand. You can even use a cereal box or a tissue box to make a basket. Cut it apart and reform it to the size and shape that you want your basket to be. Use tape to hold it together. Next cut a piece of fabric to fit on the inside. You can either sew the fabric to fit the box, or use fabric glue instead. Pull the fabric up and over the top of the box so that you have an inch or two of fabric on the outside rim. Cut the rest of the fabric off. Glue it in place using a hot glue gun. Then start winding string or rope at the top edge of the box to hide the fabric. Continue wrapping and gluing it every couple inches until the entire box is covered. The bottom is optional if you want it covered too. Good luck Marsha.

    Hi Marsha,

I saw your question yesterday and I knew exactly what project you wanted but I couldn't find it. I've been thinking about it ever since. I took some time tonight and found the project with the cooling racks that were folded into storage racks. I don't know if you can figure out a way to make these work for you, but here's the post from another Hometalk member. Good luck!
