How do I preserve a butterfly?
I want to make a coaster of paper weight with the butterfly in the middle of it. I know I need to pour something and let it harden. Then lay butterfly on it and cover it with the remaining product. I got some epoxy but was told not to use that, plus it would be really expensive. Someone suggested Polyurethane but said it would take forever to dry. Also what do I use as a form. Someone said plastic container would not stick to it. All knowledge is appreciated.

I imagine the butterflies would disintegrate into dust at the least little application. Why not go to the handycraft store and buy some butterfly stickers? They come in amazingly beautiful colors and look so real that nobody will be able to tell the difference.
Leave the beautiful butterflies alone to fly freely in your garden!
Plastic resin. Not sure how a delicate butterfly will do, but you can certainly try!

How do i suspend found objects in small resin blocks
Practice a lot before using your perfect butterfly. The fresher ones are less brittle. Search online for the epoxy. I had a kit years ago to make paperweights so I know its available somewhere. Good luck.
