Hello you can make a nice faux finish using acrylic paint washes. Some folks also will spray adhesive and cinnamon to even give a textured buildup of rust.
Sand with fine-grit sandpaper.
Spray white vinegar onto the metal and wait several minutes.
Apply a solution of hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, and salt.
dip into vinegar with salt and peroxide
