    You can purchase vinyl placemats, and trace a circle on the back and cut them out. You can find cork circles or even squares at a craft store. ACMoore, Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Then glue the cork on the bottom of the circles. Vinyl placemats are about .99 up $2. This will make some nice coasters.

    Our daughter made us some with photos laminated to 4" x 4" ceramic tiles. she also put little stick on felt dot of the backs.

    cut out pieces in what shape you want from an old leather coat they make brilliant coaster and are easy to clean......or coil rope to the size you want catch each layer of the coil with a stitch so its all sewn togther..when you have the size you want cut the rope at an angle to finish it smoothly and running into the last coil.

    get some thick rope and make a circle of it on a piece of cork from a craft store. Hot glue the rope.
