Make a moon for my front porch?

We want to make a large half moon to hang from the roof but i dont know what material would be best?

Try cutting out the shape from plywood with a jig saw.
Do you mean hang from the eves of your roof ?.
Things to consider, the weight , weather , and safety...
If it's hanging , it will blow around, you need to place it where it won't
Damage your house. You could probably use wood , if you seal it really well, maybe try using a snow saucer( kids slide in the snow on it )
Do you mean a crescent mood? A half moon is kind of boring unless it's a cookie.
Use pressure 3/4” treated plywood with one or two 1”x2” pressure treated strips to help keep it from warping. Then paint it with glow in the dark paint.
A half moon would be like a half circle, a crescent moon is a crescent shape
