Hello. With fabric being quite costly have you considered one of those stretchy microfiber slip covers as an alternate idea?
A canvas drop cloth used for fabric might be another cost saving option.
When I have put a cover on furniture that wasn't I haven't purchased premade, I have found that Queen and King size flat sheets and dropcloths provides the cheapest and easiest care fabric for something so large. Good luck!
Some of the sewing pattern companies have slipcover patterns in the home section.... https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&hs=VBW&sxsrf=ALeKk00ENmc_6Es_T6yMg7VQoneU8ujr6g:1594842649573&q=simplicity+slipcover+patterns&tbm=isch&chips=q:simplicity+slipcover+patterns,online_chips:sofa+slipcover&usg=AI4_-kSdqwjHm3WU4V2MBdNrXp1lgo3-fw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiop-bsg9DqAhW3JzQIHQIOBKMQgIoDKAN6BAgBEAg&biw=884&bih=418
I looked into this recently and once I worked out the cost of both it worked out so much cheaper to buy them rather than making them.
