What is best method for pressing dried flowers?

I press leaves that I pick up every fall by using waxed paper then putting them in between pages of heavy books.

Another method to create dried flowers is to put the flowers in to small bundles and hang them upside down for approx. 6 to 8 weeks. I use rubber bands to hold the little bundles together. Then I put a safety pin thru the rubber bands and attach them to the curtains in my kitchen using the safety pins. The flowers dry nicely. Best wishes.

Having collected and pressed plants for many years for the provincial herbarium, I used sheets of unprinted newsprint paper, between sheets of watercolor paper (or some paper that absorbs moisture) in a press made of sheets of perforated masonite and webbed straps. Yes I would put some paper between your tiles to absorb the moisture so they don't decay. You can get off rolls of unprinted newsprint at your local newspaper office cheap.

Only time I used waxed paper was for cacti, and other plants with gelatinous glucose secreations.

If I did mounts for hanging, I used Riker mounts. But I have done some for friends. They will fade under sunlight so keep them on a wall that doesn't get direct light.

I find old telephone books work well. The pages are thin and dry and press flowers perfectly. You can fit a lot of flowers in a big one! I put books on top for weight to be sure to hold the flowers in the position I want them in and so press properly
