Where can I purchase stencils?
I see the long wood boards leaning against a porch with the message "Welcome" or "Merry Christmas" but nobody can tell you what size stencil you need or where you can purchase them (reasonably) I have searched online, in stores, craft stores, DIY stores etc, zilch. Seems to be the great big secret!

you can always make your own stencil what ever size and shape you want it..thin cardboard, an exacto knife and some tape..box knife will work, but exacto knofe is like a pen and does finer work.
Hi Shele,
Ugh, how frustrating! Have you considered making your own stencils? That way you can make them the exact size and style you need or want. Here's a link showing you how I do it. Feel free to email me if you want more details.
Best to you!

You can buy letter stencils at places like Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, WalMart, etc. and use those. They come in different sizes. You can also find stencils on Etsy, Amazon, Ebay and other stencil maker websites. If you think about buying letter stencils--look for stencils that are cut from clear plastic rather than cardboard-- it makes it easier to see your placement. If you have or know someone who has a Cricut--you can also cut out your own letter stencils. The large stencils that you would like can be quite expensive to use for one project--so it is less expensive to buy the individual letters. Practice on a strip of paper first so you can get your spacing correct--the individual letters will be the same height but different widths so as you work downwards on your wood--you want to have a center line so the each letter is centered on your board. Here is another option to try if you don't want to buy stencils: https://www.thepaintedhinge.com/2017/03/04/diy-painted-wood-signs-without-using-stencils/
Not a secret, just a bit pricey. All my craft and hobby stores carry them, and yes they can be expensive. I purchased a set several years ago with 8" letters on sale with a coupon. You can make your own too. See if these help.

Have you checked on Etsy? They are my go-to for stencils.
Office Depot has a stencil kit, Michaels has a kit also. I just checked Amazon and they too sell large stencils.
