Give your kiddos a great start to the new school year by throwing a Back to school Party. What even makes it more unique is to make this school supply cake! A fun way to start the year!
A Cake anyone can bake!
Gathering all the supplies for this fun theme cake was easy peasy! The local Dollar General had everything I needed. The cake takes 1 subject notebooks, school glue, crayons, stick glue, and fun colored pencils. Plus all of the pretties.
Make it an Easy Clean up tablescape
For the table, I used a black plastic cloth, again from Dollar General. It worked well to mimic a chalkboard. I wrote the names in chalk beside each place setting. The cake was the center of attention on the table. When the party was over it was a very simple clean up with just rolling all of the paper into a ball and throwing it away!
Cute Dick and Jane scrapbook paper
The base of the cake was a 10-inch piece of foam board covered with scrapbook paper. A vintage look Dick and Jane school paper was used. The extra pieces of the paper were fashioned around the base of the cake for added cuteness.
The Cake ingredients
The very center of the cake is a roll of paper towels. The notebooks are attached to the paper towels with rubber bands and then the layers are added. All are attached with rubber bands. The bands are then covered with ribbon. In my case, I used crepe paper to help cut costs a little.
Keep adding cuteness
After the ribbon and all of the supplies were placed on the cake, Gerber daisies were fashioned on the cake. I had some curly ribbon and then even made one ribbon from a strip of red gingham.
The Table
Red paper plates, black polka-dot napkins, colorful flatware, and green napkins completed the look. The kiddos drank from cappuccino jars from Aldi's. I have a vintage blackboard which finished the look.
