Jewellery Dish- Made Out of Glue

Everyone really liked my glue gun decoration/ placemats so I decided to expand on this technique and see what people think. I thought how I could be more 3D with a glue gun? So here's my jewellery dish made out of hot glue. I hope people like it and have ago them selves.

Firstly, I cut off a sheet of baking paper. Baking paper is great as not much sticks to it so its perfect for lifting hot glue off easily. You can also draw designs on it and it wont smudge.

I got the size bowl I wanted my jewellery dish to be and drew around it so I have a rough size to work my design around. Use a black marker so you can easily see when tracing your design with the glue gun.

Here's the design I created. Something different to really see how this comes out like. I did make my design bigger than the circle of the bowl as I realised the circle needs to be bigger to make the 3D effect.

Then I got a old hair bobble to tie the baking paper around the bowl (you could use an elastic band). You do want to make sure its tightly around and doesn't move.

The simpler you make your design the easier it will be to trace which is what I found out as my design ended up changing a bit when using the glue gun.

I waited for the glue to dry for about 10 minutes to make sure it was solid. Then lifted it off the baking paper carefully and slow. This is how it turned out. Pretty pleased with the result.

I decided to spray paint it silver to give an expensive look. This brand Turner & Grey I would really recommend, it dries quickly and gives and even coverage.

Finished!

I think spray painting this silver really added to the dainty effect and made the dish look like it's really made out of silver. Please everyone have ago at making one and let me know how it turns out.

Another photo to show you how well this jewellery dish holds its shape. Be sure to follow me on Hometalk, Pinterest and Instagram to see more of my projects.
