Easy
I wanted to try the fingernail polish swirl paint technique. I had these two colors on hand that I wanted to use. The vases are the single stem clear plastic type.
1. I started by filling a large bowl halfway with water. I then shook the fingernail polish bottles to loosen and mix the paint for easier consistent flow. I started dropping a few small droplets at a time of each color in a random pattern into the water. Be careful to drop lightly the paint drops or they will fall to the bottom of the bowl. Using the water surface helps prevent paint "gooing" up.
Adding Polish to Water
2. I took a wooden skewer and carefully swirled the two colors adding more of the lighter color or darker one as needed. You need to be somewhat quick as the polish will coagulate or "goo" quickly.
Time to Dry
3. I then dunked my vases into the swirl mixture softly rotating them. I did the tops to form a "collar" look and then the bottoms. I free handed it but you could use painter's tape. Then I turned them upside down to dry.
Terrific Trio
Finished. Here they are with a small glass jar that I also painted using the same technique. I wanted to see the effect on glass by testing the jar first. My bowl for use in this project was stained but it was a big plastic bowl that I use for handing out candy. I will probably paint it with same technique but in Autumnal colors.
Is TigerLily lovely?
I wrapped a leaf around the neck to hide the rings. I like this technique on both plastic and glass. Have you used this technique?
