This arch was tiled in the UGLIEST brown cheap tile when I moved in. I knew I had to change it asap and thought of all the normal ways to update it- like painting it, and vinyl tiling it. But none of that appealed to me. So I waited for a better solution. Then I woke up in the middle of the night and said WOOD! Whitewashed distressed wood! So, there I went, the very next day I called my carpenter! Her's how we did the job together!
Here is a before photo. This was the ugly tiled archway into the bedroom which had to go!
Once I received the wood pieces, I had already white washed and sanded all of them. They look distressed and just lovely. Then the Carpenter cut them all to size for me and nailed them in through all of the tile and concrete!
Here is the archway almost done and I am so excited! It is such a fresher and brighter look than that tile.
And now it is DONE! I just love it so much!

THank you it is my favorite project in the whole house. I think it looks like a piece of art!. I have thought about painting it, but its so cool the way it is..I will try and restrain myself. This is a rental. The owners are so lovely, I did inform them of what I wanted to do and they just said this is your home now you do what you want..um yep I have..haha
