Todays Aztec Inspired Decoupage vase is going to be a quick little project!
If you have been a long time reader you would know how much I love the Aztec pattern.I love the design, the colors and basically everything about it.
If you are new here then you should definitely check out my Aztec Table Makeover and Aztec Storage Cabinet,
Clearly I am slightly obsessed with Aztec designs.
Moving on to todays little DIY craft.
I got these square vases from the Dollar Store and the idea was to make it into fun pencil holders.

I chose the colorful Decoupage Paper from DecoArt called Tribal. They had the perfect amount of color and pattern that I wanted.
I first created a small Aztec template out of a plain white paper which made it easier for me to trace and cut out from the Decoupage paper itself.

In total I created about 8 pieces.
You have two options, you could just apply glue on the area where you will place your aztec pattern or apply it all over the vase to get an almost frosted look when it dries.
I chose the frosted option hence I applied it all over.
Then gently place your Aztec Design and try to keep it as centre as possible.
On top of it apply another layer of Decoupage Glue.
Repeat this on all four side.
I always give it one complete day to fully dry before I use it.
And you should end up with something like this, how fun are these vases!
I currently am using it to hold all my pencil and stationery items but you could use it as a centerpiece, to hold your make up brushes, place a succulent or just use it as a home decor piece.
