Have you ever tried wood burning? I have been fascinated by it and finally took the plunge to make a few gifts at the last minute!
The best part is that all I had to buy was a wood burner. I already had almost every thing else at home! You will love how they turned out! There are so many ways to use them! They make great gift tags that can be re-used as accessories. I use mine on my handbag!
I started by drawing the outline of the tag on a scrap piece of MDF. The best part is you can make them as large or small as you like. There is of course the option to also buy the (affiliate) precut wood tags !
I cut them out and made a hole for the cord. Next, I taped off and painted them with acrylic paints to add some fun color-block patterns.
Next, I traced the letter I wanted and used the (affiliate) wood burner to make dots around it. I started with small dots first then made larger dots. How long you hold down the wood burner defines how large the dot gets. I have a video tutorial and lots more detail in my blog post. The link to it is at the bottom.
Like I said they make a great personalized gift! You can use it as a gift tag and then it can be re-used as an accessory like I do. Curious to see all the other colorful gift tags I made? Take a look at my blog post!
