Hello
I am into folding pages and creating art from old books. I visit my local library and buy books for $2 or less. In this craft project, I folded pages and created a memorial for my grandmother MaryAnn Regina Kozuch-Jones whom passed away in 2001.
I went to the library and printed up many photos. I purchased a gardening book and started to craft. In the birdcage fold, it is two steps per page. I folded all 200*+ pages and enjoyed viewing and reading about gardening, however, my grandmother grew her own herbs and flowers, and she made her own edibles, jams, and wreaths out of things from her garden. She also had a beehive; I placed a few bumblebee's on her memorial. Here is a short step by step and the entire video on Youtube. If you would like to view the video, I included her sweet sixteen photo all the way up until the last photo I had of her. This idea really made me emotional. Going thru photos and remembering her and my grandfather. I made a memorial 'candle' craft project for his-it is on another video. My grand parents never knew the value of social media and how they will always live not only thru pictures, but now on the world wide web.
Hug your grandparents today and tell them you LOVE THEM>
This project turned out almost as beautiful as my Babcia. No one could ever hold a light to her and her dedication, devotion, love, and sacrifice she gave. No one.
Thanks to HomeTalk and all of you-
Rest In Peace Mrs. Elbert Jones.
Bless!

Find a book or re-purpose one you have. The taller the better for this project. About 200 pages and hard covered.
The first page, take the corner from the upper right side and bring it toward the left of the page-crease.
Now take that same page, and on the right side bring it over toward the left like shown-
Two steps. Now repeat all pages.
Take a break if your hands get tired. I am not even halfway done in this picture, but I am reading the pages before I fold them.
Now I am finished. This is a birdcage. I will cut out a window section, and then add a prayer book, cross, and a tea light later. My grandmother was religious-in her honor-I will add this. I am not religious. But I look at this and her photos every night now, and I love it.
Here is the prayer section/altar. You draw a line with a ruler and make a square. Then take scissors and cut those sections out. It is tedious work, but well worth it, Or just leave it and decorate it without the window. Just depends on how you want it. I added card stock inside the window.
Here is the close up. I added some bling in the back of the window just enough so when it gets dark, the area sparkles with light from the tea light and bling. Bible stickers I purchased from JoAnns fabrics.
It really is stunning in person. My camera doesn't do this memorial justice. Take my word for it :)
After you fold the pages, and cut the window, then you find something heavy to move the birdcage to the side and out of your way to modge podge your photos. Do one side at a time. More specific details in the video. Thanks for reading and watch the video. You never know-maybe Grandma's family will watch this. She was from Gaylord and Midland Michigan. Bay City later on in life. Bless to you all.
