Boho Style Wooden Tile Coasters Or Risers With Decorative Feet
I use A LOT of Redesign with Prima Decor Transfers on my furniture, so I have tons and tons of scraps laying around which are perfect for smaller projects.
If you don't know what decor transfers are, they are images that you can easily transfer to hard surfaces using pressure only.
For this project, I used pieces of the Bohemian Solstice and Xmas Tag Mini Decor Transfer
*Price listed is for the amount of product used, not the initial cost of the products
*Time listed is for work time only, does not include dry times
Gather your supplies -
*Wood tiles (mine are 5½ inches square by ½ inch thick and I bought them from Etsy, but you could easily cut them yourself with the right tools)
*Stain color of your choice (optional)
*Transfer pieces of your choice (this one is Xmas tag)
*Topcoat of your choice (I use Crystalac extreme protection waterbased polyurethane)
*Decorative metal feet (Amazon and Etsy have a good variety)
*Super glue
If you prefer, stain your wood tiles first and allow to dry completely (I usually leave mine to dry overnight)
Cut out a piece of transfer
Carefully remove the white backing
Transfers are extremely sticky and will stick to just about anything so be careful when handling it
Press it down into place in the middle of the tile
Using either the wooden stick included with the transfer or the Redesign With Prima transfer tool (sold separately), apply pressure to the entire image, especially around the edges.
Once you believe the image is adhered, slowly start to lift the clear protective layer.
If at anytime the image hasn't adhered completely, lay the clear layer back down and go over it again with your tool of choice.
Sometimes, you might get a stubborn area. Use the corner of the wooden stick or transfer tool to apply pressure to the transfer, or even your finger nail works well.
Then continue on removing the clear later
The transfer is adhered!
I then applied the topcoat and super glued the metal feet on
The feet do come with tiny screws, but if you've ever tried to screw those tiny screws into hard wood, it's just nearly impossible, and that's why I take the easy way out with super glue 😀
If you want to use the screws, I would first drill out a pilot hole, then screw in the tiny screws. That will make it much easier
I love how they turned out!
They're perfect risers for my Christmas trees (check out my hometalk page for that tutorial)
Watch the video below to see how I made the Bohemian Solstice coasters 😊
