DIY Chalkboard Serving Tray (Makes a Great Gift!)

Chalkboard paint has been slapped on many a wall, but have you considered painting a serving tray with it?
Personalize your event with a saying ("Happy Birthday" or "I love you") or even with labels for your appies or drinks.
This tray is easy to make, and is a fantastic gift. Consider this for the upcoming holiday season!
Scribble down a saying or holiday greeting to personalize your event.
I started with an unfinished tray (source in the blog post - link below).
I painted three coats of chalkboard paint onto its surface. There is a way to do this - head to the post for more detailed instructions.
The outside of the tray was painted with acrylic paint. The two coats resembled more of a stain than a solid paint. (Which was FAR less work than actually staining it)
The addition of a sweet buck's head stencil was PERFECT for this piece.
And after treating the chalkboard surface (head to the blog for the details on that) - the tray was ready! I could label my appetizers...
Or simply add a note for my guests.

This simple tray would be perfect as a hostess gift, or for the social butterfly in your group. Pair it with a bottle of wine or plain white serving dishes. It's sure to be a hit.

I've never used chalkboard paint. Is it washable?

@Shanna C Yes, it is! You get the best results if you use traditional chalk instead of chalk pens -but as for food and globs or stuff, then yes... it's washable.
