This project is simple, I know. However, the end result is pretty nice if do say so myself! I started with dollar store photo frames and old frames I already had... and gave them a cool makeover!
First gather your materials : photo frames, sand, tacky glue, brushes (I prefer foam), acrylic spray (optional )'accessories '(gems, shells, earrings are perfect ) to accent the frame and a dropcloth.
Remove the glass and photo from the frame. Choose the color of sand you'd like. ..for this one I mixed black and blue. Brush a generous amount of glue onto the frame.
Place the frame onto a dropcloth or the top of a cardboard box...this will catch the extra sand. Coat the entire frame with the sand. Lightly tap the excess sand off. Allow to dry. Once dried, apply a generous coating of tacky glue or mod podge to seal and add a gloss. Acrylic spray works well too.
Next, attach your 'accessories ' for this picture I used gears for a steampunk look. Gems, stones, pearls...anything! I found cheap earrings work particularly well and look great.
Once everything is completely dried, re-assemble and display!
This one is a large frame that I used two colors of sand.
I hope you enjoy re-vamping your old photo frames!
