I wanted to make a modern looking lamp so thought I would make one from concrete and metal.
The first thing to do was make a form to cast the concrete in. I cut down some sheets of wood.

These pieces then got nailed together to form a cube.
I wanted the copper pipe to stick all the way through the concrete at an angle. So I marked out the angle and drilled a hole through the same diameter as the pipe.

The pipe could now be pushed through the hole and was a nice tight fit so no concrete would leak out.

I got some quick mix concrete that only needed water adding to it.

It just needed a good mix then could be poured into the mould.
I used a hammer the tap on the wood to remove as many air bubbles as possible.

When the concrete had dried the wood could be removed and both ends of the pipe cut to length.

I cleaned up the pipe then gave the concrete a couple of coats of spray lacquer.

I got a kit online that allowed a bulb holder to be attached to copper pipe. This gets tightened down like a normal compression pipe fitting.

I used three core wire as its all metal fitting. It got pushed through the pipe.

The wires got stripped and the bulb holder connected.

I added a inline switch and plug and that was it all done.
