Create a Crystal Snowflake Ornament or Window Charm

Easy
Perfect craft DIY for kids you can combine science with fun crafts using simple pipe cleaners and Borax acid! Hang them on the tree or in a window for sun-catcher window charms your kids will adore.
The kids will love seeing how the crystals form on the pipe cleaners. So simple! I can't wait to try this with my kiddos this Christmas. Use different color pipe cleaners for different colors.
Such simple items to make these ornaments. Talk about frugal and easy!
Use the pipe cleaners to form your star mold. This will become the support for the "crystals".
Suspend the snowflake pipe cleaners in the solution so it will grow crystals. This part takes some time - leave it overnight or all day if you do this craft in the morning.
This is how it looked after just five hours before it was fully dried. So cool!

Hello Blissfully Domestic, I know that these could last many years with good care, but I wonder if using a spray fixative of some sort on them would help retain the crystals so they are not quite so delicate? These could be a beautiful heirloom ornament and I thank you for taking the time to share this with us. Regards, Linda
