Creating a Pottery Barn Inspired Pedestal From a Vintage Cutting Board
has a wooden pedestal that looks like a vintage cutting board on legs. It inspired me to add some legs to my cutting board. Not only does it look as great at the Pottery Barn version, but mine has that natural, vintage charm we all love!

I combined two items that most people would have thrown out. The set of chisels unearthed from my gram's tool shed ( Gramp's older set, the metal had rusted away leaving only the wooden handles), and my Gram's old meat board she kept on the kitchen wall. The handles made great legs once I was able to pry out the leftover pieces of the chisels. Since the meatboard was extra thick, I used dowels set into the bottom of the board and the top of the handles and glued them in place with Gorilla Glue. I gave the meat board a good reconditioning and a fresh treatment of mineral oil and beeswax. Thank you for the idea.

Often I see lamps that really too short for where they are placed on side tables. Something like this with legs added could be something to raise the level of the lamps. I use coffee table books piled in graduated size to do this but this might work.
