DIY Bell Flowers

Have I mentioned to you that I hit the jackpot at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago? They had a huge sale on yarn and I walked out of that store with an entire shopping cart full of yarn. I was so happy... I sorted the yarn out on my kitchen table and left it there for a week because I didn't want to put it away. Sooooo, there's no wonder I've had yarn projects on the mind and these bell flowers are my latest.

Figure out the size you want your flowers and cut some soft, chunky wool yarn twice the length.

Use a piece of green yarn to tie around the middle. Make sure to double knot.

Pull the yarn down and tie a piece of twine near the bottom of the flower.

Be sure to tie the twine as tight as possible and double knot. This is what gives the flower the nice puffy look.

Make a bunch of these...

Add a drop of hot glue to the top of them stem and wrap the green yarn around it. Add more glue if you need to secure it better.

(I had these flower stems left over from another project, but you could also use wooden dowels or skewers painted green for this part)

Work your way down and continue adding flowers. Make sure you leave a small space between each one.

Isn't this pretty? I love it because it's so bright and colorful and perfect for summer!

I plan on making more of these no-maintenance flowers... enough to make a bouquet of them - possibly in different colors. I could also see these being used in weddings, as party décor, centerpieces or given as a gift.
