Don't you love to do craft projects that let you use you’re trash or recycling? Well, here is a project that lets you break down your cardboard boxes and use them to make a cool, faux embossed frame. And the faux embossing couldn’t be easier. All you need is a glue gun and a steady hand to create a design. Add some spray paint and something to put in your frame and you’re golden.

Here is the finished piece. Depending on how creative you want to get, you could do yours much differently. Perhaps a circle frame or a folk art design?

Here are the materials and supplies you’ll need.

Trace what you plan to put in your frame.

Draw a line half an inch inside the tracing you just did.

Using an exact knife, cut the inside square as well as the width of what you want your frame to be.

Draw your design onto the frame. Erase as needed to get it exactly how you want it.

Start using your glue gun to trace on top of your design.

Add glue around the edges to keep from fraying.

Add a coat of gesso all over your frame to get it an even color and cover the pencil marks.

Spray paint your frame to give it an even coverage of color.

An optional step is to add some distress ink to the raised glue to accentuate the embossed look.

Add a line of strong glue just inside the hole on the back of the frame.

Press down your mirror or picture and let the glue set.

And ta da! There you have it!
