DIY Herb Box

First I went through my scrap wood project & found a piece of 1×6 for the bottom of the box & a couple of 1×4 pieces for the sides.

Then I nailed all the side pieces into the 1×6 using finishing nails

After I had my box built I stained it with Minwax Hickory gel stain. This is one of my favorite stains to use for indoor beams & its also very close to our nursery flooring color

Once the stain dried I used some stencils I got from Michaels & painted on “Herbs” using a Q-tip. I use Q-tips when I am working with small stencils & when I want it to look a little weathered. I like the way the texture looks.

After the stencil was dry I used the Minwax wipe on poly to seal the box
