Upcycle a simple terracotta pot into a fantastic gift with a few simple steps. By following our tutorial you can transform a brown plant pot into a "pun" tastic herb planter. If you are anything like me then you will have some of those supermarket herbs on your windowsill and these DIY painted plant pots are a great way to keep them, rather than in their sad black plastic pots with cellophane wrappers.

Don't you just love how cool these herb pots are. They would make the perfect housewarming, christmas or teacher gift. They are the perfect size to transfer any store bought live herbs in to.

Paint the pots with weather shield paint (this will work if they are used inside or out).

Glue on your twine and wrap around the top lip of the pot and allow to dry.

Using stamps add a plant pun - you can see all ours here

They look so cool on the windowsill. So much better than just the black plastic pots the herbs come in. You can check out our blog post to see out exact tools and recommendations.
