For this year I wanted to make something special for my kids to give to their grandparents, and I confess I wanted one too. Even though I made this "Light of My Life" candle for Valentine's, it is the perfect gift for as well.
Here is a quick break down of how I put it together.
Here is a quick break down of how I put it together.
I started this project by picking up a few glass votives from the dollar store.
Next I headed over to Pickmonkey and began to play. I was able to make some cute pictures that I could cut out and modge podge onto my glass. While playing I added the wording "Light of My Life" and the year. You could use this for pictures of your kids, grand kids, spouse, or even a beloved pet! I made a few different versions so that each persons would be unique.
After I had these printed, I wished I had done it onto velum, but didn't have any handy. It still turned out really nice though. For the Modge Podge I just used a DIY version. You can read about that over on my blog.
Finally I modge podged my picture onto my jar. The modge podge actually gave the glass a frosted look which I really liked so I painted the whole thing to complete the look! I had to do about 3 coats making sure it was completely dry in between each coat.
I have this candle sitting out on a side table and I just love it. It is such a great reminder of how blessed I truly am!
