I see olive trees everywhere, and they look so beautiful to me. But...they are crazy expencive. Soooo... I have decided to make one. 🙂 And guess what? It turned out really cute 🙂 Come and see what have I used for this really easy and affordable mini project.

Materials

Most of the stuff I already had in the house.. All that I needed to buy were the olive stems. So, here is what I used :

  1. Olive stems ( ordered from Amazon, came in a bunch of 3)
  2. Crafts wire
  3. A big flower pot ( or a basket )
  4. A thin branch ( I cut mine from my back yard )
  5. Scrap wood
  6. Dirt

I think I ' ve never done such a quick project. This was so easy, it was basicly done in half an hour. I cut a thin, and about 1 meter long branch from my yard. I wanted the tree to be that tall. Took my olive stems and wraped them around with the wire to attach them to the branch.

Then I took my pot ( basket ) and filled it with some scrap wood pieces and stuck my "tree" in between. I made sure that it was secure and it doesn't flip over.

So it was pretty much done. For the more realistic look, I filled the pot with dirt. You can also use rocks 🙂 I might still add them...

And that's all 🙂 The easiest project, but it made a huge impact in my dining room, where I inteted it to be.

You don' t always have to buy things, make them! It's fun 😊

One thing I would caution about is the dirt. Dirt from yard will always contain bugs, even if you can’t see them, and you really don’t want them living in your house. Another way to finish it off is to cut a round sheet of live moss (Hobby Lobby) and cut a hole for tree. It still looks alive without the dirt. You can put anything in as filler, i put a couple bricks in the bottom and packaging from my last Amazon order and no one will ever know.

I like your style! When I get an idea, it slowly burns inside me, and I want to make it work RIGHT NOW! Just a tiny bit impatient! LoL I have dismantled flower arrangements, pots of weeds or reeds, etc and been amazed at what I will find as some kind of filler before I knew what to use, or didn't have any around. Wadded up clothing, balled up newspaper or wrapping paper, books (large pots) even before anybody was talking about it, using toothpaste to fill in holes in your walls. I knew my dad would kill me for hanging posters on my walls using tacks, when our house was strictly a 'no tacks or nails ' house, and couldn't very well ask someone to buy me some spackling and paint, so it suddenly hit me.....the toothpaste was white! Then Close Up came out! Also, you can take white toilet paper, wet it, and I mean wet it, them take a pinch with your finger and thumb and roll a bit into a size that will fill the hole. It takes a minute, but you will get feeling for how much it takes. It works! Whoda thought!?💜🌻🌻✌️😁🕊️
